Getting Ready for the Winter

Not ready to let the season end, so I am practicing some season extending techniques.  Parsley, kale and onions still going strong. Covered some carrots and lettuce seed in a my mini version of a hoop house made from hula hoops and sturdy clear plastic garbage bags. Started some lettuce seeds in my foam tomato boxes and covered them in plastic about three weeks ago.  Looking nice.....
This is inside the mini hoop house.

Foam boxes covered in plastic with lettuce seedlings.

Inside the foam box........lettuce is quite happy in there.

Here is the re-purposed kid's pool table bottom with hula hoop and clear plastic covering.
Lamb's Ear...got this little baby for free last year when a friend decided to redo her flower beds.

Kale in the foreground, Curled Parsley and turnips in back.

Swiss Chard is enjoying the cooler weather.

Some happy Italian Parsley.....

Purple Vienna Kohl rabi...hoping to get some seeds next Spring from this one....

Few herbs still surviving....

common mint

Side yard garden...more Kale. You can barely see the hula hoop pieces on the left ready to go should I need to cover for a deep freeze.

Italian Parsley in the asparagus garden.....ran out of room elsewhere but it doesn't seem to mind...

Swiss Chard side yard in the Blueberry Patch....
